Your Personality Type
Recognising who you are becomes much easier once you have recognised your personality type. You were born with certain traits which both define you, and which shape your perception of the world around you and how you deal with it. These traits extend beyond the simple cause and effect of daily life, we are discussing what makes you who you are; thus they can rightly be regarded as - spiritual gifts in addition to being your personality types. When you are faced with an obstacle, how do you handle it? Do you go around it, go over it, ignore it, or attack it head on? The way you instinctively handle your problems (and everything else), is determined by your personality type - your spiritual gifts in action. These gifts determine how we receive thoughts and act upon them. It is generally recognised that there are four broad personality types. Initial work on these concepts are attributed to Carl Jung, who defined the basic personality types as thinking- feeling - sensation - intuition, with further conditions including extrovert and introvert giving up to sixteen types. This typology is often used for Myers - Briggs type personality testing. The Myers-Briggs personality types are a psychology tool for categorizing different personality types, both for self understanding and behavioral explanations. Personal development means keeping things simple, so we shall concentrate on the four personality gifts from which our personality develops, the root cause of our being. They are truly gifts. Whilst we are predominately one of the four personality gifts, we also live partially by the other three. Some people are more balanced between all four whilst others are very strong in one and much weaker in the others. The four gifts are :- 
Knowing your make up of these four gifts, in particular which gift is your predominant or natural type is one of the most useful self awareness elements of self help. Personal development note : The explanations below are sufficiently self explanatory for you to relate to your type.
PROPHETIC : A prophetic type has an inner knowing and is regarded as creative because they simply know. (They don't know how they know - they just know).These people may never follow guidelines - they know how it should be! They will watch to see if they are being watched and will end up doing what they want anyway. They are the spice of life and can be a lot of fun. A prophetic person never wants to do the same thing twice, they like to go to different places and are never routine in their actions. It is important for them to trust themselves and their sensitivity. They just know whats going to happen. Its an inner knowing and they need to trust it. It is often said that they get their ideas when sitting down - flying by the seat of their pants - literally! When explaing something to you they invariably say "know what I mean"! (Y'know). This gift is represented by the colour purple. Spiritual aspect The gift of prophecy is well documented through the ages. Highly developed prophetic types "know" in advance that something is coming to pass. They don't know why, it just is. They are often accused of having a 'hotline' to God. They know how it is going to be.  VISIONARY : The Visionary type is clairvoyant or sees in his or her minds eye. They need to see things illustrated, demonstrated or written down. They are very influenced by pictures and are interested in things that are colourful or visual in nature, for example art, sculpture, photography etc. Their surroundings are likely to be perfectly co-ordinated in both color and arrangement, to the n'th degree! They see how things should be, and can find themselves out of balance when things are not the way they imagined them to be. When explaining something to you they invariably say "see what I mean"! They may be something of a traditionalist and love to see everything in order and in its right place. Have been known to say no when they mean yes! This gift is represented by the color yellow. Spiritual aspect These are the people who have visions. Many clairvoyants (voyant - to see) are of the visionary type. They tend to see auras more clearly than the rest of us and are the people who see apparitions, ghosts etc. They see how it should be. INTUITIVE : The intuitive type a born leader is very independent and wants to do things for themselves. They work from the big picture and can leave the details to others (like Visionaries). They hear their inner voice telling them what to do! Treat them with respect in your tone of voice. It is more important than love. Take time to explain things and the big picture. Let them ask questions. Likes to always be the leader. This gift is represented by the colour red. Spiritual aspect They have the gift of clairaudience - they hear the message. They know thats the way it will be. FEELING : A Feeler is very sensitive and their feelings can be easily hurt. Accept their love and touch them a lot. This will give them a feeling of self-worth. They often need organising and direction. They need help to put their feelings into words. Give them space and allow them to touch/feel things. They talk about how things feel or how you feel. If it feels right then for these people it probably is right! They feel their way through life, and enjoy details; so if it feels good and positive, do it. This gift is represented by the color blue. Spiritual aspect At the extreme end of the gift of feeling are the empaths. These people pick up other peoples feelings just by being in the vicinity. They can walk into a room and immediately feel uncomfortable (or worse)and not know why. They are picking up on someone elses feelings, and may even have to leave. They know whether it feels right or not.  You should have no trouble recognising yourself in one of these four personality types. Once you understand your personality type, self understanding becomes more defined and as a bonus, it also helps you to understand those around you. Personal development note : You may find that you have elements of all of these gifts in your character. The mix may change over time, however one gift, your personality type, (the one you were born with) will always be predominant.
