Mind Power
This is where you begin learn to use your mind as a tool - in fact it is the most powerful tool at your disposal. The techniques used in developing your mind are borrowed directly from the art of meditation. It is strange that a life changing technique like this is not the application of effort, in fact the reverse is true. The term Meditation covers a wide range of skills, methods and practices, some of which have been developed and refined over at least five thousand years. Meditating was once regarded as the domain of monks and mystics, yet today more and more people are finding a place in their life for meditation techniques. These may range from methods of relaxation through to esoteric spiritual practices. The idea of practicing meditation techniques often conjures up images of a shaven-headed monk sitting cross-legged on top of a mountain, oblivious to the world around him. I would also include a quiet walk in nature as being within the realms of meditation techniques. These all have at their core one thing in common - they are focusing your mind, which means they are putting you in charge of your own mind. The object here is not to remove you from daily life so much as to put you in charge of it. Sportsmen use mind power techniques to focus their efforts and improve on their performances, businessmen are taught mind power techniques in the guise of visualizing the outcome of goals and also to relax and relieve stress. Please note that the terms mind power and meditation. Mind power is what we are achieving here, meditation is how we are getting there. The first goal of mind power is to calm the mind and body. From calmness the mind finds peace and the body relaxation to recharge and heal. From a place of calmness and serenity, removed from the static of daily living, we can free our minds to focus on our outcomes. The outcome may be as simple as getting (programming) a parking space at the shops, or as profound as projecting your entire future. You have the power, you were born with it. Now you have to learn how to use it. When we meditate, our brain activity slows down as we enter a more peaceful state of mind. Medical science has characterized four states of Brain Activity when using an EEG-machine, to measure the electrical activity of the brain : Beta:
Alpha:
The big difference between operating in alpha and beta is that in beta your mind is in control of yourself, whereas in alpha you are in control of your mind. Theta:>

To reach the Alpha level of brain activity is relatively simple technique, and to make it even easier, I have recorded vocal guides to take you there. The text of each meditation is written out, but as you can't read and meditate at the same time, so please read it once before listening to the recording, just to reinforce the proceedure. There are two "Listen" buttons for each meditation. The Left hand button has a music lead in and lead out, but silence behind the spoken guide. The right hand button as well as the music lead in and lead out, has a faint music loop playing behind the spoken guide. Many people find that this aids their concentration. Once you have completed these first three introductory mind power cycles, you have the knowledge to perform your own meditations. The more you meditate the better, and you will find that the time required to enter the Alpha state of mind becomes shorter and shorter. Eventually it is possible that you could find yourself both in and out of the Alpha state at the same time. Remember, we are learning this meditation technique as an mind power tool, and as with all good tools, practice makes perfect.
