Emotional Freedom Technique



This is the basic Emotional Freedom Technique method as developed by Gary Craig.

I can not stress strongly enough that while these are my notes, the discoveries and methods are the product of work done by Gary Craig and his associates. I am merely presenting my take on his work, (which I gained from his training videos as well as personal experience).

The basic Emotional Freedom Technique consists of three procedures :

  • The Setup
  • The Sequence
  • The 9 Gamut Procedure

The sequence is performed twice during the technique.

The whole procedure takes about two minutes to perform, possibly a little less.

There are shortcuts which trained practitioners use, but my advice is - don't even think about it.

Two minutes is not a long time to dissolve an issue, or aspects of an issue which is troubling you. (When was the last time you could cure a headache in two minutes)!

Much more about aspects later, but simply put, a given issue is usually made up of more than one cause, or aspect and each aspect needs to be addressed before the issue is solved. In fact experience shows that if no result is obtained, there are always other aspects involved.



The EFT Method.



Memorise the basic Emotional Freedom Technique.

Direct it at any and all emotional or physical problems by using a suitable Setup and Reminder Affirmation.

Be specific where possible.

Be persistent until all aspects of the problem have vanished.

Try it on everything!



The Complete Technique :

The Setup Repeat the affirmation 3 times :

"Even though I have this ..........
I deeply and completely accept myself."

while continuously rubbing the Sore Spot or tapping the Karate Chop Point.

The Sequence Tap about 7 to 10 times on each of the numbered energy points while repeating the Reminder Phrase at each point.

Points : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7a, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.

The 9 Gamut Procedure Continuously tap on the gamut point while performing each of these 9 actions :

    Eyes Closed
    Eyes Open
    Eyes hard down right
    Eyes hard down left
    Roll eyes in a clockwise circle
    Roll eyes in an anti- clockwise circle
    Hum 2 seconds of a song
    Count to 5
    Hum 2 seconds of a song.
The Sequence again Tap about 7 to 10 times on each of the numbered energy points while repeating the Reminder Phrase at each point.

Points : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7a, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.

In subsequent rounds, The Setup Affirmation and Reminder Phrase are adjusted to address the remaining problem.
