EFT Method The Setup
The EFT Setup procedure recognises the problem which we are addressing and affirms it.
What we are achieving with The Setup is engaging the emotion and intensifying the disruption in our energy system.
The EFT Setup is Vital to align your energy system with the desired outcome.
The Setup addresses the problem which is termed - Psychological Reversal - for instance - even though someone consciously wants to solve their problem of :
- Fear
- Overweight
- Depression
- Addiction
- Degenerative Disease
Subconsciously they do want the condition, (that's why they have it in the first place)!
Whilst the phenomenon of Psychological Reversal is in force, nothing, not drugs, not counseling, I repeat nothing is going to work.
However, simply performing The EFT Setup will bypass this phenomenon, at least in the short term.
The effectiveness of The Setup has been verified with Muscle Testing procedures (ie. Applied Kinesiology).
Define your problem
If the problem is a physical pain this is simple, you simply need the location of the pain, and its intensity on a scale of one to ten.
One is mild discomfort and ten is excruciating. However, when the problem is emotional then defining the problem can be a little more difficult. We all feel emotions differently, so it usually best to just go with what it means to you.

Again, express an intensity of the emotion from one to ten.
One is a mild feeling of ... and ten is an overwhelming emotional need.
If the intensity of the emotion is low, spend a little time running a movie of the situation in your mind to intensify the feeling. Make it as intense as you can.
Expressing the intensity of the problem is important because this provides us with our EFT Intensity Meter so that we can measure our progress.
Note : In therapy this is what is called a SUDS meter. (Subjective Units of Distress.)
State your outcome :
I want to be rid of this pain.
I want to overcome my fear of ....... .
I want to change ....... in my life.
I want to stop being ...........
Affirm your problem.
The EFT Setup Affirmation : Now we are going to express the problem in the form of an affirmation which defines the problem and which recognises yourself.
Even though I have this ............... I deeply and completely accept myself.
The blank is filled with a brief description of the problem you wish to address.
Here are a few examples :
Even though I have this headache, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have this pain in my ........, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have this fear of ........... , I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have this craving for food/alcohol/cigarettes, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have this anger, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have this depression, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have these feelings of ......., I deeply and completely accept myself.
As you practice EFT you will hone your judgment as to the suitable description.
If in doubt start with something general and zero in on the problem over several cycles of tapping.
The form of the affirmation can be reversed if you wish ie :
I accept myself even though I have this .......
Even though I have this .........., I deeply and profoundly accept myself.
I love and accept myself even though I have this ...........
It helps to say the affirmation with emphasis.
Whether you believe the affirmation or not - just say it!
Out loud is best, however if you are in public you could mutter the affirmation.
Some therapists recommend that you stand in front of a mirror and really put some energy into it.
Rub or Tap
To make the affirmation really effective The Setup includes the simultaneous rubbing of a "Sore Spot" ... or ... tapping on the "Karate Chop" point of the hand.
The Sore Spot :
There are two "Sore Spots", one on each upper chest. It doesn't matter which one you use.
The spot is sore when you rub it vigorously because lymphatic congestion occurs at that point.
Both sides are equally effective, however after several sessions the congestion may clear and show no discomfort at all.
The Karate Chop Point :
Instead of rubbing, you vigorously tap the Karate Chop Point with the index and middle fingertips of the other hand.
The Sore Spot is the preferred method, although both work well.
The importance of The Setup is that it is a clearing process to prepare your system for the actual procedure. It aligns your bodys energy system with the problem you wish to address.
Now, whilst either rubbing your sore spot or tapping the Karate Chop point firmly and continuously, repeat your Setup Affirmation three times - with feeling.
I find that it takes about 25 to 30 seconds to complete the three affirmations, although many people do it faster.
