EFT Method The Sequence
The EFT sequence involves tapping on the end points of the major energy meridians of the body.
This sequence of tapping balances the body's energy system and the recognised emotional or physical condition which was highlighted by The Setup, subsides or disappears.
How to tap :
You can tap with either hand, however most people use their dominant hand.
The tapping is done with the fingertips of the index finger and the middle finger. The reason for using two fingers is to cover a larger area than with one finger, just in case your location is a little off.
The amount of pressure is firm, but not firm enough to cause pain or bruising.
If you find that tapping is simply not working for you (on a clearly definable problem), try tapping harder, put some energy and or some emotion into it!
The speed of tapping is generally faster than ten times in five seconds and slower than ten taps in three seconds - this is simply to establish a comfortable rate. However it is really a suit yourself speed.
Tap on each meridian point five to ten times or so. When working through a problem, counting the number of taps will be the last thing on your mind, so just tap for five seconds or so.
The EFT Tapping Points are the same for each side of the body, so you can tap on either side of your body, or even some taps on one side and some taps on the other, just so long as you cover all the meridians in order.
While you are tapping on each meridian point, say the reminder phrase at least once.
The Reminder Phrase
Returning to The Setup for a moment - remember The Setup affirmation :
Even though I have this problem of ...... I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have this pain in my ...... I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have this fear of ...... I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I have these feelings of ...... I deeply and completely accept myself.
The words in red which describe the problem to be addressed, are the reminder phrase.
Repeat the reminder phrase to yourself right through the tapping sequence to maintain your focus on the problem to be solved.
The EFT Tapping points :
Each energy meridian has two end points. For the purposes of the basic EFT technique, you only need to tap on one end of the meridian to balance out any disruptions which may be present.
Here are the twelve tapping points in order of those meridians which form the basic technique.
Three areas of the body are involved. The first five points are on the face, then two on the body, and finally five more on the hand.
The Face : - 1. The inner end of the eyebrow.
- 2. On The bone at the outer side of the eye.
- 3. On the bone under the eye.
- 4. On the upper lip under the nose.
- 5. Between your chin and lower lip.
The Body :
- 6. The junction where the breastbone, collarbone and first rib meet.
- 7. On the side of the body at a point even with a mans nipple, or at the bra strap for ladies. It is about the width of your hand below your armpit.
- 7a. The centre of the lower rib, directly below the nipple. (This point is optional).
The Hand :
On the hand, we tap on :
- 8. The thumb
- 9. The index finger
- 10. The middle finger
- 11. The little finger.
- 12. Finally we tap on the karate chop point just as we did in The Setup.
Hold your hand out, thumb upwards with the fingers outstretched and the thumb laid down along the index finger, (handshake position).
The EFT tapping points are on what is now the upper side of the thumb and each finger, at the side of the thumb and fingers adjacent to the base of the nail.
